Wheel Of Fortune (R) First, Second, Third, Junior & Golden Editions For Commodore (R) C64 or 128 (in C64 more) Computer Wheel Of Fortune is lively and challenging, just like its television counterpart. Enter your consonants, buy your vowels, solve the puzzle without going bankrupt... and the chance to win "cash" and an exciting "dream prize" is yours. Play with friends, or play alone and pit your skills against computer-selected opponents. Loading Instructions After inserting the disk in the C64 mode, type LOAD "*",8,1 and press RETURN. When the computer is read, type RUN. Setting Up The Game 1. After the opening screen is displayed, press RETURN to begin. The computer will take several moments to load. 2. Use the F keys to resond to questions as they are presented: number of players (one)F1 - (two)F3 - (three)F5 and returning champion (yes)F1 - (no)F3. Type in your name and press RETURN. 3. If you are a returning champ, the List Of Champions, their visits and their grand totals appear. Use the CURSOR key to move to your name and press RETURN. 4. To correct a typing or spelling error, use the DEL key. 5. If you select a one- or two-player game, your opponents will be selected by the computer. 6. To begin play, press F1. Playing The Game 1. The object of the game is to solve the puzzle on the gameboard by filling in the hidden letters. 2. The arrow marker (>) on the scoreboard points to the player whose turn it is, while an off-screen timer begins a timed countdown (15 seconds). The player can choose to: a. Spin the wheel... Press F1. When the spinning stops, the off-screen timer then begins a 15-second countdown for the player to enter a letter. b. Buy a vowel... Press F3. The cost of a vowel is $250; therefore, players cannot buy vowels before they have won at least $250 in the current round. If a player does not have $250, he/she is not offered the buy-a-vowel option. c. Solve the puzzle... Press F5. 3. The category (Thing, Person, Event, Place, etc.) appears in a black box above the scoreboard. 4. The gameboard displays of the letters in the alphabet. Each time a player guesses a letter, it is deleted from the list whether or not that letter is contained in the puzzle. 5. Each time you spin the wheel, you can earn the amount of money indicated when the wheel stops. That amount, times the number of matches, is added to your score when you select a consonant contained in the puzzle. 6. When all vowels contained in the puzzle are shown, the choice to buy vowel is not available; when all consonants contained in the puzzle are shown, the choice to spin is not available. 7. If the wheel stops at Bankrupt, you lose only those winnings accumlated in the current round. 8. If the wheel stops at Free Spin, the free spin is credited to your account and appears as a (X in a cicle.) You may use a free spin any time during the round. 9. Your turn continues until you: a. Enter a vowel or consonant that is not in the puzzle. b. Enter a vowel or consonant that has already been guessed. c. Spin the wheel and it lands on Bankrupt or Lose A Turn. d. Enter a vowel instead of a consonant afteryou spin. e. Give an incorrect solution to the puzzle. f. Take more than 10 seconds to respond. 10. To solve the puzzle, enter the missing letters as indicated by the *. Press the DEL key to correct errors. An on-screen timer counts down from 20 to 00 during the solving process. The player who solves a puzzle without any previous winnings earns $200. Rounds Two And Three 1. Rounds Two and Three are played in the same manner as Round One. 2. Each time a new round begins, the wheel values are re-initalized and the score-board is updated with the winners' cumulative scores from the previous round(s) (displayed in the middle column). 3. Player 2 starts Round Two and Player 3 starts Round Three. Bonus Round The player who has accumulated the highest amount of winnings in the three previous rounds plays the Bonus Round. A winning computer player does not play the Bonus Round. 1. The player selects his/her prize by: a. Pressing the CURSOR key to move the pointer down to the prize; pressing the SHIFT key/CURSOR key to move the pointer up. b. Pressing RETURN to confirm. 2. The player chooses five consonants and one vowel. 3. Correct choices are displayed in the puzzle, and the player then has 30 seconds to enter a solution. 4. To solve the puzzle, enter the missing letters. Press DEL to correct errors. Press RETURN when the puzzle is complete. List Of Champions 1. The winning player's name and winnings are added to the List Of Champions. 2. To view the List Of Champions, press the SPACE BAR. 3. To exit the list and play again, press F1.
